This newly amalgamated primary school wanted to create a new feel for its rather dreary 1960's concrete panelled exterior. Discussions about what the school would like and how this could be achieved resulted in this piece: "following the pathway to success", the school's motto. Each child in the school from reception [age 3+] to year 6 [age 11+] drew round one of their feet to make a clay tile. Using the colours of the rainbow and starting with red for reception, the children glazed their tiles and made other clay pieces: butterflies, flowers, fish etc. All 400+ tiles were fixed to the panels and lead the children, staff and visitors into the school, under the porch, through the lobby and into the school entrance: literally following the pathway to success.
