cotherstone school 40th anniversary project

Our Village and School Celebrating 40th Anniversary of the School Building

Cotherstone , County Durham 2004

This was a project to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the school, linked with a drama / local history project taking place during the school year. Cotherstone is a rural village in the heart of Teesdale.  A walk round the village was organised involving all pupils, talking about the changes that had occurred over the years and looking at different buildings and their history. The children decided which aspects of the village they wanted to work on, some working in groups and all the features on the piece are of special significance to them. It might be their own or a relative's house or barn, the duck pond, or playground, the rivers, bridges, school, castle or cat.

The piece can be seen from the road running through the village as well as the footpath which crosses the school grounds.
